Hi,
I agree since sodium Hydroxide solution is relatively cheap, readily available and absorbs the So2 and HCL upon hydrolysis of thionyl chloride.
Best wishes,

Subject: ORGLIST: DISPOSAL OF THIONYL CHLORIDE
Hi,
Is there any good way to dispose (neutralize) the excess of thionyl
chloride after trapping it in the end of chlorination reaction.
Regards
A. Bel
