Hello,
you can form the N-oxide by heating the t-amine in acetic acid and
30%hydrogen peroxide (1.5meq) and subsequent recovery of peroxide under
reduced pressure and finally neutralization with metal
carbonates/extraction. This will give you >80%yield with highly pure
product. Avoid the metallic contamination.
This is worth trying .
