Try CCl4 as solvent, if not soluble, try CF3Ph as solvent. NBS/AIBN as bromonation reagents, heat the mixture to 60oC to intitiate radical reaction.

Radical bromination of benzylic position. The alkyl substituted aromatic system was dissolved into CCl4 with AIBN (0.2 equiv.) and NBS (1.5 equiv.). The mixture was heated to 65oC for 4 hours. The resulting mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, and washed with brine. The organic layer was dried and concentrated. The residue was separated by silica gel column to give product with 70% of yield. CF3Ph could be used to replace CCl4 for higher temperature. "
