ORGLIST: hydroxylation of furan/butenolide

Hi. can anybody suggest how I can hydroxylate the
carbon 2 of a furan or the C-4 of a butenolide?

How about the aromatization of a butenolide to
furan-2-ol. Can this be done using MnO2 or SeO2?

Please help me.
