Hi,

I know of Ninhydrin Reagent for spraying, we used it for cyclohexanone TLC, it may be helpful

Subject: ORGLIST: Stains

Hi all,
I am currently working with Piperonal and 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and ultimately 3,4-dihydroxyacetaldehyde and other similar aldehydes. I want to make sure that these components have reacted fully by staining them on TLC plates but so far my permanganate stain and anisaldehyde stain do not seem to be working as effectively as they should. I believe that they were prepared correctly as I prepared them from this link. Can anyone suggest a better stain? Thanks.
