The only way as I know is to compare with standard
compounds you may have. If you don't have any
standard, you have to analyse each fraction you
collect by mass spectrometry (or LC-MS). If the scale
is large enough, you are doing a preparation
purification. You collect each fraction and analyse it
any way you want such as by proton NMR.

The more popular analysis is LC-MS instead of HPLC.

I don't think that there is any data base library
right now, although I heard such a thing when I was a
college student 25 years ago. I don't think that it is
useful any more as the large diversity of columns in
the market. Also, HPLC is wide used in analyse new
compounds that have never documented before.
