Dear all,
I tried to make thiol from p-nitrobenzyl chloride and
thiourea. in the past i prepared few thiols with
benzyl chlorides derivatives, all of them were
liquids. but in this case it seems the reaction did
not worked well to give a thiol. i feel that
p-nitrobenzyl chloride (is a solid) might have formed
some other compound rather than thiouronium salt hence
it was difficult in breaking with NaoH to form thiol.
any suggestions please?.
thanks in advance
regards
Srinivas
