hi everybody,
I am preparing secondary amines using alkyl halide and
primary amine with the help of CsOH ( the product will be preferentially
secondary amine), Starting material has two funntional groups, one is halide
and the other is ketone group. so my question is, preferentially where the
reaction would occur with primary amine? I mean , whether amine reacts with
halide or ketone? because there is a possibility of forming schiffs base(
imine, when reacted with ketone).
So which is the preferable product, either secondary amine or imine?
I would appreciate if someone let me know the solution. thank you.
reddy.
