A few years ago there was an article about this in J. Chem. Ed. I seem to remember they recommended brief exposure to saturated NaOH in 95% EtOH followed by rinsing with water.
As anybody who has had to constantly relubricate glass stopcocks will tell you, a variety of solvents aside from hexane will do the trick too (EtOAc, toluene).
