Treatment of Raney Nickel with HCl greatly reduces its catalytic activity and such catalyst can be used only for certain special purposes like partial hydrogenation of acetylenic compounds. You need to know correct cleint requirement.
You might also try to decrease the pH of your Reney Nickel with aqueous sodiumhypophosphate solutions or pH 5 phosphate buffer. You will have to experimentation to know the exact amount of buffer you need to use to bring the pH down to desired levels. But if the cleint needs it for the specific purpose of like partial hydrogenation of acetylenic compounds, you might use HCl. Urushiba catalysts offer another choice for such purposes.
Cheers
