TLC for reactions in DMSO
yes, there indeed is a trick or rather two that i
learnt from one of my mentors. try the follwing.
1. take an aliquot in a capillary or a small pastuer
pipette - into a small test tube and blow the solvent
dry using air - re-dissolve the residue in a low
boiling solvent like acetonitrile or methanol and then
spot.
2. if there are no suitable solvent to re-dissolve
the above-residue, then spot directly onto the plate
using thin capillary tubes then blow a stream of air
on the TLC plate to dry the residual dmso before
developing -
these two tricks work like magic and also holds good
for other high-boiling solvents like DMF and others.
