hello,
do anyone know main impurities in glacial acetic acid (i feel so many other things may be present other than what the manufacturer claim). and what is the way to purify glacial acetic acid if at all needed. i am trying a reaction which is reported to go almost 85-90% (reaction between phthalic anhydride and diethylene triamine). but i am hardly getting 50-60 % after repeated experiments. i suspect the solvent.. hence the question. suggestions and other possible reasons for low yield are most welcome..
