Hi everybody,
I need to remove a methyl group attached to the N of a piperazine system.
the molecule is rather complex (a bicyclononane system functionalized by
groups such as ureate and amide). The standard method using 1-chloroethyl
chloroformate in 1,2-dichloroethane at 85deg C (we also tried dioxane and
diglyme at temperatures up to 140deg C)failed.
The use of DEAD in toluene at 100deg C also did not cause any conversion.
Does anybody have a solution for this problem?
Thank you very much,
greets samarium
