You can try a Mitsunobu procedure with diisopropylazodicarboxylate,
triphenilphosphine and sodium azide.
Hope it helps

Oggetto: ORGLIST:Direct conversion alcohol to azide
Hello everybody!
Is anybody of you familiar with a direct conversion procedure alcohol to
azide?
Would you please suggest reagents/conditions? I am experiencing problems
with
the classical 2-step way alcohol -> bromide -> azide.
Thanks a lot! (and merry xmas!)
