Dear orglist members,

I think there is a way to avoid this explosion.  Whether the idea has used by someone before, i don't know. So please, send your feedback about it.

The idea is to eliminate the peroxide by adding some triphenylphosphine into the peroxide-suspecious THF. TPP will break -O-O- and reduce it to H2O or ROH (if the peroxide attaches to R) and Ph3P=O. Then using KOH and distillation would be safe.
