Dear Dr. Miguel A. Méndez-Rojas!

For the nitration of aromatic rings plays an important role the concentration of applied acids or more precisely the water content. Try to perform the reaction with fumic nitric acid and 20-40% SO3 saturated in concentrated sulphuric acid. Keep the temperatureat lower, because higher temperatures favor the oxidation side reactions. If you are interested more how to obtain the anhydrous acids, i gladly advice you.
