Hi,

I am trying to synthesize naphthil via the condensation of 2-napthaldehyde using thiamine/NaOH/EtOH (cf benzil). Does anyone have any experience with this condensation, and if so, what yields have been obtained. Whilst I see apparent product by TLC, the yield seems very low (10-15%).
