SUBJECT : FORMALIN 37-40%
Dear Everyone,
I wish to know the following :
1) The maximum solubility of
FORMALDEHYDE/METHANAL(HCHO) in water at room temp &
pressure.
2) How much PARAFORMALDEHYDE(POLYMETHANAL) powder will
be required
to give a 1 LT 37-40% solution of
FORMALIN(Formaldehyde dissolved in water)
Paraformaldehyde is insoluble in
water.Depolymerization of Paraformaldehyde occurs at
temperature of 180-200 deg C,giving anhydrous gaseous
Formaldehyde.
3) If an impure 37-40% solution is distilled in a
closed apparatus, will the resulting distillate be a
pure 37-40% solution of Formalin, or will Formaldehyde
be given off and the 37-40% concentration of solution
be lost?
(Slow evaporation of Formalin yields
Paraformaldehyde;will distilling Formalin give rise to
formation of Paraformaldehyde?)
Kindly let me know the above. Thanks in advance.
Regards to all,
jaininder
