Hello researchers,
i'm trying to functionalise the secondary side of the beta cyclodextrin by protecting the primary side and then forming the epoxide in the secondary side.... so far this work has been acheived sucessfully...the opening the ring of the epoxide is the problem i'm facing now (in all the units)...did anybody has any experience in opening the ring of the epoxide in a molecule like beta cyclodextrin having such streric effect....?? and did anybody who's working in CD has done the mass spectrum for any cyclodextrin derivatives as i'm getting always surprising results not in agreement with the NMR for example.... i noticed in the litterature that they are not using this technique to characterise a cyclodextrin derivative !!!!
