Dear all
i tried to reduce acetanilide following a standard procedure given
in vogel. i.e; NaBH4, DMSO, and methanesulfonic acid. i felt that the
reaction went properly upto to the formation of a gelatenous substance
during the slow addition of the methanesulfonic acid, which is suppose to
dissolve when the when the molar ratio of the acid will become more. at
this point i observed formation of a dark solution as the gelatenous
substance is dissolving. i realized some problem here, can any body
suggest the reason for this and the easy procedure to reduce the same.
thankl you all
