Mathematicians have the Erdos number;

being how directly connected you are in terms of publication to
Paul Erdos. He was itinerant, and apparently published with around
1000 co-authors in his lifetime. Nevertheless, a number of 1 is quite
an honour!

 It may be expected that chemistry
is not quite like that. Still, the thought did strike me that chemistry
 may have other numbers; how many
Nobel prize winners might one have co-authored with for example.
Does anyone know if such (in reality pointless ) statistics might
ever have been attempted? A value of 3 would be quite something.
