It does not seem likely to me. However I must reinforce what Jon said THF
readily forms peroxides having unintentionally distilled several grams of
the hydroperoxide and surviving. I would treat old bottles of THF with
great caution especially without inhibitor present as is the case with some
HPLC grades.
 I flush bottles containing THF with N2 after use.

I haven't heard that either. THF is usually sold with an inhibitor, but of
course if you distill it to dry it, the inhibitor is removed. Check out a
copy of Bretherick's for a full listing of potential danges with it.
