    Dear Dave,

    Deuterated chloroform are made by basic hydrolysis of hexachloroacetone in deuterium oxide. The degree of deuteration obtained is lower than expected, so could be a disappointing (and not very cheap) experience!

    Also note that hexachloroacetone is quite toxic.
