Colleagues:
What is the stability of dialkyldisulfide towards bases, specifically sodium
or potassium hydroxide? I have searched some of my general texts, but have
been unable to find an answer.
Jonathan N. Kremsky, Ph.D.
My guess is this is a stable combination as such compounds are synthesized with KOH or NaOH. See Org Syn. Collective vol 6, 235 (1988), Alonso, et al. Good luck.
