Post-doctoral position available. One year post-doc position in organic synthesis of molecular devices (wires, switches..) starting March 2000 available in the Molecular Electronics Group (Prof. J.-P. Launay, C. Joachim & A. Gourdon) CEMES, CNRS, TOULOUSE (France) in the frame of the European Network "Bottom Up Nanomachines' (BUN) In Toulouse, the Molecular Electronics group ( around 20 persons) is involved in various aspects of molecular electronics and nanosciences: -Theory: molecular modelling, electron and energy transfer and transport, STM and AFM simulations -Chemistry: synthesis and physical chemistry of molecular wires2, 3, molecular switches and nanomachines. -Nanolithography, STM and AFM We have a small but well equipped lab (synthesis, UV-Vis-NIR, FTIR, electrochemistry, Nanoscope III + UHV STM, X-ray diffractometers, TEM, multiprocessors large computers) with an access to NMR (from 200 to 400 MHz), MS (DCI, FAB, ES), fluorimeter, chemical analysis. Within the group, target molecules are selected in coordination with theoretical chemists, synthesised and characterised, studied by UHV STM (positioning, luminescence in collaboration with IBM) or AFM and their properties are extracted by calculation. Toulouse is a nice (and often sunny !) academic (>100 000 students) town in the south of France not far from the Pyrenees (2 h drive from ski resorts), from Mediterranee (1h30), from Atlantic Ocean (2h30) and from Spain.
