Hello, i am a graduate student working on the synthesis of 1-(2-isocyanophenyl)-pyrrole. Starting from 1-(2-aminophenyl)-pyrrole i tried to formylate in refluxing Ethyl- and alternatively in refluxing Methyl-formate as described in Kazu= hiro Kobayashi, Chemistry Letters, p. 551f (1998). Unfortunately there was no reaction time mentioned and the formylation yielded insignificant amounts= of product (traces were discernible in 1H-NMR-spectra) after reaction times = of up to six days. Is there a trick to this reaction (some catalyst?) or is there another synthetic route to 1-(2-N-formylaminophenyl)-pyrrole or 1-(2-isocyanophenyl)-pyrrole? Thanks in advance for all answers.
