Dear Colleauges,
I wish to perform chloromethylation on my bromobenzene. can anyone
please give me some helpful procedures to start on?
the theoretical step is as follows:
                      ZnCl2
ArBr + HCHO + HCl(g)------------> (CH2Cl)2C6H3Br

wonder if I still need to use ZnCl2 if an electron donating group is
attached to the ring such as -OR group? and what's the function of
ZnCl2? (is it added in catalytic amount?)

I would very much appreciate it if anyone could contribute the working
procedures to get this reaction started.
