An ether or THF solvent may be necessary for forming the Grignard =
reagent, but for the ensuing reaction, benzene will be a suitable =
solvent.

     I carried out a Grignard reaction for the preparation of Ph3P,from =
PhMgCl and PCl3 in Tetrahydrofuran as solvent .The batch sizes are large =
(2Kg Ph3P).Can a hydrocarbon solvent be used ?
