I think you are wrong. According to ACD (avaiblable chemicals database,
under ISIS)
no one sells 4-hydroxycinnamoyl aldehyde.
Regarding the proposed reaction, I wonder if the double bond is stable
during the reduction? Conjugated double bonds are known to be sensitive to
e.g. LiAl4.
I would check the literature thoroughly, the compound is in e.g. Beilstein
Crossfire, with several synthetic routes. I couldnt see which routes, so you
have to get the original references.
