You might consider oxidative degradation , for instance the Hunsdiecker =
reaction or the modern variant of it, described by Cristol and Firth, =
who employ a Lead Oxide suspension, the carboxylic acid, bromine and =
irradiation with a simple tungsten lamp, to produce the decarboxylated =
bromide.
