For clinical studies we need 13C labelled succinylaceton (4,6-dioxoheptanoic
acid). According to me there are at least two possible routes.
1) prepare the dianion of ethylacetoacetate, followed by the addition of
succinic anhydride. Deprotect and decarboxylate (beta-ketoesters).

2) prepare the anion of labbeled aceton, followed by the addition of
succinic anhydride.

Can it be done this way? Ifso how? Are there other way to prepare the stuff.
We need at least 3*13C in the molecule.

Thanks in advange,
