Michael addition of the enolate of diethyl malonate to C-4 of the double
bond.
Then the intramolecular Claisen cyclization of the C-1 methyl (from the
starting
enone. And finally the hydrolysis and loss of carbon dioxide from the
cyclic
beta-keto ester.
