Not sure if this or the organic discussion group had the question about
drying THF so I will post my 2 cents to both. There are a series of papers
on drying organic solvents by David Burfield who actually investigated many
of the common methods to dry solvents and produced numbers comparing them.
I seem to remember that molecular sieves were one of the best agents in
many but not all cases. Leading references are:

JOC, V49, 3852 (1984) and JOC, V42, 3060 (1977).
