What are your suggestions for methylating hydroxy groups on a polymer
chain under mild conditions?
I thought about refluxing it with MeI in pyridin. Do you
think this is a sensible choice?
Moreover, I'm wondering how one could asess the degree of methylation
without resorting to NMR or IR spectra. Viscosimetry might do, any
other suggestions?
TIA,
Eugene Leitl
