Dear colleagues,
A few days ago I tryed to nitrate ethyl benzoylacetate (PhCOCH2COOEt) but
all my attempts were unsuccessful: in fact both HNO3/H2SO4 mixture and
HNO3/acetic anhydride mixture (at various temperatures) yelded the
demolition of beta-ketoester chain. Did any of you ever try something
similar (any suggestion would be appreciate)?
Moreover, I need to nitrate a quinolone ring. Do you have any suggestion
(again...)?
Thank you very much in advance.
Gianluca "Merlino" Sbardella
