Dear colleagues,
first of all my apologies for any repetition.
A few days ago I tried to brominate 2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene with NBS in
CCL4 as a solvent to achieve the corresponding benzylbromide. Together
with the desired product the reaction yelded some 1,1-dibromo-derivative
(the amount was straightly proportional with reaction temperature).
Does anybody know any other more selective brominating agent?
Many thanks in advance,
Gianluca Sbardella, Ph.D.
